Minuteman Day BBQ Competition
Come compete in our Third Annual Minuteman BBQ Competition hosted at Camp Robinson during the Minuteman Day festivities, 13 Sep 2025. Prizes will be awarded for 1st- 3rd in each category as well as overall Grand Champion.

Saturday, September 13, 2025
-0600- 0700: Team Setup
Teams will have access to the main event area for setup. Note that there is a single entry/exit point, so please plan accordingly to stage your cookers and accommodate static displays (e.g., helicopters, heavy equipment).
-0700-0730: Cooks Meeting
We require at least one representative from each team to attend this meeting. We'll cover the Rules of Engagement for the event and address any questions you have. Feel free to ask anything to ensure you're well-prepared.
-0730-1330: Teams Start Cooking!
We will have support staff.
-1330: Category Turn-In
Please have your entries ready for turn-in by this time.
-1330-1430: Cleanup/Teardown
After the Awards Ceremony, all teams must be prepared to exit the area once the event is complete for the day.
-1430: Awards Ceremony
The timing for the Awards Ceremony is based on the overall schedule but may vary based on the schedule of other event awards throughout the day. We appreciate your patience.
Competition Categories:
*Ribs: Baby Back Ribs only, any other type of rib will not be accepted for judging.
*Chicken: chicken breast or chicken thigh Note: Each will be judged as a separate category.
*BBQ Beans: Bring your best bean recipe to be cooked in the smoker. Creativity and flavor are key!
*Appetizer: Open category. No restrictions—get creative and show us your best bite-sized creation!
Competition Rules
No Pre-Preparation! All meat must be raw and unseasoned at the start of the competition.
No marinating, seasoning, or pre-cooking is allowed prior to the official start time. Staff will verify that all meats are in original, sealed packaging before the competition begins.
Cooking Area:
Each team/competitor is allotted a 20’ x 20’ space. All equipment, prep, and cooking must remain within this designated area.
Judging Criteria: Judging will be conducted blind to ensure impartiality. Entries will be judged based on appearance, taste, doneness, and texture, and will be assessed on a 10-point scale.
Equipment and Supplies: Competitors must bring all necessary equipment, food items, and ingredients for cooking and preparing their entries. All Turn-in boxes and numbered tickets for each entry will be provided by the competition organizers.
****Special Note on Alcohol*****
Alcohol is permitted at the event; however, it must be kept discreetly in a container, such as a solo cup or tumbler, and should always remain out of sight. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to this request. NOTE:: failure to follow these guidelines may lead to removal from both the competition and the premises. In other words, DRINK RESPONSIBLY.
Event Location and Directions:
Upon entering the main gate of Camp Robinson, follow Military Road to the first stop sign. Turn left onto 8th Street and continue to the next stop sign at Kansas Avenue. Turn left onto Kansas Avenue. After about 100 yards, stay right towards Nebraska Ave, then turn right just before building 9302. Drive down the dirt road and veer left toward the cooking area. You will be driving on an unapproved road for about 50 yards. Once you get to the cooking site, someone will assist you with parking.
