Springdale in 2012

The 59th National Guard Association of Arkansas (NGAA) General Conference and Exhibition will be held at the Springdale Holiday Inn and Northwest Arkansas Convention Center in Springdale, Arkansas, April 20-22, 2012. Should you want to use your GPS, the hotel is at 1500 S. 48th Street in Springdale just off I-540 at Exit 72.

Most all of the traditional events will be on the agenda and some new things as well. The annual NGAA Partners in Patriotism golf tournament is planned on Friday, April 20th, at the Springdale Country Club with the same format as in past years. Tee time is 9:00 a.m., and lunch will be provided following the game. The NGAA golf tournament committee is hard at work to provide an enjoyable experience for everybody.

Registration and exhibits will be open in the convention center, adjacent to the hotel, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Thus, attendees arriving in the late afternoon will have ample time to visit the exhibits and pick up registration packets. The president’s reception will be held in that same area that evening. Take time to visit the exhibits and enjoy the complimentary food and drink. Then, the unit hospitality rooms will be open after that for more socializing. (Note for potential exhibitors: Look under 2012 Conference Exhibition on this website for exhibitor information and registration form.)

The conference business meeting will convene Saturday morning. Congressman Steve Womack has been invited to speak. You won’t want to miss his presentation and his insight into many of the military programs facing Congress and the impact those will have on the Arkansas National Guard. The business meeting should conclude by noon.

Saturday afternoon provides free time to shop, rest, and enjoy the northwest Arkansas area. Photos, the parade of commanders and the formal military banquet will conclude the conference activities that evening. And, the hospitality rooms will reopen following the banquet for one last time of fun and visiting.

The conference registration remains at $65 per person. The Holiday Inn room rate is $77 per night for conference attendees and includes complimentary breakfast. Check-in time begins at 3:00 p.m., and check-out time is 12:00 noon. The association, in conjunction with your board of directors, has negotiated a very affordable conference, and we hope to have a large turnout. Units will bring in their own food and beverages for their hospitality rooms. There will be complimentary wine for the banquet tables (this is something we were not able to do at the 2011 conference in Hot Springs). Overall, we look forward to an enjoyable and affordable conference. Just sixteen percent of our members attended the 2011 conference. Let’s do much better in 2012.
