Springdale Success Story...
What a great conference in Springdale, Arkansas, in April this year! Although I was unable to attend because of medical issues (feeling better now), I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about all the excitement, fun, good food and fellowship everyone enjoyed during the 59th General Conference of the National Guard Association of Arkansas.
There was a good showing at the conference with almost 25 percent of association officers in attendance, and many brought their spouses and family. The banquet was filled to capacity with almost 400 meals served. A big thank you to the Holiday Inn crew for their good job and also to Colonels Don and Frankie Sears for the wine they donated for the banquet tables.
We appreciate everyone’s attendance at the business meeting and want to thank Congressman Steve Womack for attending as keynote speaker. Click here to read the conference business session report. All the unit hospitality rooms were outstanding and a lot of fun. Congratulations to the 39th Infantry Brigade for winning the $250 prize for Overall Best Hospitality Room. From what I hear, it sounds like their win was well deserved, but I was also told by the judges that it was a hard decision to make as all the hospitality rooms were excellent.
Another thank you to all the exhibitors and corporate members that joined our event this year. Twenty-seven exhibitors participated, and over half of our corporate business partners were represented. Many could be found on the golf course; and though the weather could have been better, everyone enjoyed the tournament. Congratulations, to all the winning teams and individuals.
What’s next? How about Reno, Nevada, for the National Guard Association of the United States General Conference scheduled September 9th through 12th, 2012. We are planning some great fun for the Arkansas delegation and want to encourage you to join us there. Check out all the details and register for the NGAUS Conference on this website.
Next year’s state conference will be held in Fort Smith, Arkansas, April 12th through 14th, 2013. Representatives of the Fort Smith Holiday Inn and Convention Center attended this year’s conference and watched what Springdale had to offer us. They tell me they plan to outdo Springdale for us in 2013! All, I can say is Good Luck. By the way, I do plan to attend next year’s conference. Hope to see all of you there too.
